Welcome to the The Plymouth Chapter - Home of the Blue Water Patriots

            Massachusetts State Society MASSAR
Plymouth Chapter TBWP Sons of the American Revolution
December 5, 2009 First Meeting
Annual Meetings October 13 - Nov 10

Dear Compatriots:
Thank you for coming to our site on the Web and hopefully to contact us in joining Plymouth TBWP Chapter. You either live in the Plymouth Membership area, or you have specific interest in the joining our Color Guard or Militia and the Marine Corps / Navy Unit of the Col. Knox MASSAR CG, and especially if you are interested in Massachusetts Revolutionary History. No former military service is required to join any one of our units and all members are welcome, and there is plenty to do for all. But, if you want to have a hand in building from the ground up, a Chapter for MASSAR, then here you go, you have come to the right place. Here is the opportunity to get involved in an activity that you feel comfortable with and interested in. We can assure you what you will learn here, will help you even if you are from another Chapter in MASSAR and just want to see more of the Society, or you come to stay in the Plymouth Chapter and get involved. There is plenty of room for all.
We will be heavily involved in all civic events, the CAR, the local DAR and Veterans organizations. Being based in Plymouth and it's History, there is always something happening in this beautiful city! We will be bringing the important message of the Revolution and what it meant to the establishment of this country to our Children in schools. It will come from our State Society as well as National. We have programs for Grammar Schools, High Schools and Colleges! One of our Flagship Programs is going to be our JROTC / ROTC program for Military Cadets in HS and Colleges and Military Academy's. We have already started on the JROTC program and partnered with our sister Chapter in Taunton, The Robert Treat Paine (RTP) Chapter CG!
As with all MASSAR Chapters, Plymouth will coordinate all of their efforts with the Board of Managers (BOM), and specifically, with the Officer in charge of a Chair that we are having an event  for and who falls under that State Officer. the SAR is an organization of many and we work together across the country as well as the State right next to ours.
Building from the ground up is a challenge, but the best reward in the SAR because you get to pick and choose your direction, concentration on what appeals to your membership and locale and what will bring the message to your members and particular area of the State.
After a long hiatus, I came back to MASSAR in 2003, specifically to be involved with a local Chapter and with the CAR. This involved me in becoming the Sec and then VP of the CCC, followed by Sec/Nat Trustee/1stVP /Member of 10 National Committees/MASSAR FLSSAR SAR CG's/and then Pres of MASSAR before opening Plymouth. At my side right up to founding Plymouth was Richard W. Bingham USMC who was part of all our work and especially establishing the Plymouth Chapter and what it stood for, but his untimely death kept him from seeing the fruits of our dream come true! This Chapter is dedicated to that memory!

We are working with the DAR to develop a strong CAR Society and eventually a youth Fife and Drum Corps! We are looking to provide an atmosphere where members can be proud to bring friends and family to all our event and become “Friends of the Society”. Especially those interested in American History, and those who want to be involved, but can’t join because they don't particularly share our Heritage, but have the same desire to know and share the American Revolution and all it stands for with us!
Plymouth is on it's way building from the ground up and establishing itself as solid Chapter in MASSAR and the SAR. There has never been a Chapter in Plymouth, and that area is just bursting with History and potential Compatriots.
We hope that whomever you are that you will contact us, come to one of our meetings, browse our WEB site or maybe ask us to join one of your events or speak at your school or Association on the American Revolution
If you are looking to join us, here are some of the challenges  we need for our new Chapter in Plymouth.
Men interested in preserving their Heritage and who want to take part in a unique Chapter with members all over the world with similar interests especially if they have a background in History or want to explore it more deeply!
Men with interests in Genealogy, Writing, Program Management (manages the Awards and Medals Program as well as speakers and events) (3 People), CAR Coordinator, and a DAR Coordinator. We are forming a Militia and a MC CG / Navy CG and Col Knox CG. Also, we will have a Fife and Drum Corps which is already started. Generally all types and choices are welcomed even if you just want to come and enjoy your Heritage!
Those of you that know me, know that I believe everyone has the potential for leadership, given the proper training and tools. Those are my marching orders, “Produce Leaders at all levels.” Even if you live out of town or in another State or out of the country, please join and become a part of History. This unique Chapter is designed to handle all interests as we will have all our activities on the WEB! We are setting up Video Conferencing for all our meetings and events so that members anywhere can participate and be part of what we are doing!  We are attempting to make a Chapter accessible to anyone no matter where they are located. This will take time, but these are some of our desires and wishes and I am sure we will have more as we grow.
Our goal is to have fun as well, and be meaningful in the community. Look at our schedule, plan a trip to come up for one of our events.
Looking forward to building a new Chapter with you.
See you soon. Feel free to call with questions. I would appreciate any feedback.
Yours in Patriotism.
William E. "Bill" Battles III USMC
Plymouth TBWP Chapter President
PP MASSAR /1st VP MASSAR

USS Plymouth - USS Plymouth (1844)
USS Plymouth (1844) was a
sloop-of-war constructed and commissioned just prior to the Mexican-American War. She was heavily gunned, and traveled to Japan as part of Commodore Matthew C. Perry’s effort to force Japan to open her ports to international trade. She also served in European and Caribbean waters and, later in her career, she was used to train midshipmen.
Plymouth was the first ship of the
United States Navy to be named for Plymouth, Massachusetts, a town on Plymouth Bay, about 35 mi (56 km) southeast of Boston, Massachusetts. Plymouth was founded by the Pilgrims in 1620.
